There are two possible clinical forms:
– A curved penis from birth (congenital penile incurvation)
– Curvature as a result of disease (Peyronie’s disease) or trauma.
In both cases this can cause psychological disorders and affect self-esteem, or result in sexual disorders (difficulty in penetration).
75% congenital curvature is usually painless, despite being very pronounced. However, 3 out of 4 patients with Peyronie’s disease experience penile pain. Over half of these patients also have palpable nodules in their penis, together with retraction, a certain loss of size and erectile dysfunction.
99% Although some cases may benefit temporarily from iontophoresis or other medical treatments, in almost all cases treatment is surgical. According to each particular case, plication techniques and grafts should be combined. Recent techniques using cavernosa rotation and tunica transposition correct the penis with minimal shortening. This surgery, carried out by a urologist-andrologist, is what will guarantee the preservation of its normal function.
Iontophoresis is a solution for acquired penile curvature in its initial stages. By means of iontophoresis, we can treat the condition in depth using drugs to eliminate nodules caused by penal curvature.
